'Congress Has No Vision': 4-Time Rajasthan MLA Mahendrajeet Singh Malviya Joins BJP

Upon joing the Malviya highlighted the concept of a "double-engine government" in Rajasthan, alluding to the governance synergy between the BJP-led state and central governments.

New Delhi: In a setback to Congress party ahead of Lok Sabha polls, four-time Congress MLA and former Rajasthan minister Mahendrajeet Singh Malviya on Monday joined the BJP.

After switching to the BJP, Mahendrajeet Malviya elabourated about this decision, saying,  "The only reason for joining the BJP is the development of Vagad region. Only the BJP can do the development. Congress has no vision... If I became an MLA from Congress and then joined the BJP, then how would I still remain an MLA from Congress..."

Malviya Cites Development For Changing Sides

According to  PTI, Malviya was welcomed into the BJP fold by the party's Rajasthan in-charge Arun Singh, state unit chief CP Joshi. Malviya highlighted the concept of a "double-engine government" in Rajasthan, alluding to the governance synergy between the BJP-led state and central governments.

He emphasised the theme of development, stating that Rajasthan is witnessing transformative changes under the leadership of the BJP at both state and national levels. "The state and the country are transforming and the entire world is watching", PTI quoted Malviya as saying.

The BJP clinched victory and came to power in Rajasthan in the assembly elections late last year. The saffron party secured 115 seats while the Congress, which governed the state between 2018 and 2023, managed victory from 70. 

The desert State had maintained its tradition of voting out the incumbent government during the last three decades in the election results.
