ED Claims Court Accepted Complaint Against Arvind Kejriwal For Skipping Summons

According to ED sources, the court that was hearing the case has taken cognisance of the same and has prima facie accepted that Kejriwal has done an offence for which he is liable to be prosecuted.

The Enforcement Directorate on Monday filed a complaint against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for "intentionally disobeying" the first three summons issued to him. According to ED sources, the Rouse Avenue Court that was hearing the case has taken cognisance of the same and has prima facie accepted that Kejriwal has done an offence for which he is liable to be prosecuted.

The ED has filed the complaint under Section 174 of IPC against AAP convenor Kejriwal alleging that he intentionally disobeyed the first three summons issued to him, the ANI reported.

The court will now decide on the alleged illegal act on the part of Delhi CM for intentionally disobeying the said three summons, ANI said quoting ED sources.

The AAP has called the ED summons 'illegal' saying that the matter of the validity of the summons is now pending before the trial court.

According to ANI, the AAP sources said earlier in the day that instead of sending summons again and again, ED should wait for the court's decision.

Arvind Kejriwal was issued a sixth summon by the ED after he skipped the five summons by the central agency in connection with a money laundering probe related to irregularities in the Delhi excise policy 2021-22 case.

The Delhi CM on Saturday appeared before the Delhi court via video conferencing and informed the court that he wanted to join the court proceedings physically, but due to the confidence motion in Delhi Assembly and the budget sessions, he was unable to attend physically.

The Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Divya Malhotra on Saturday accepted Kejriwal's submissions and allowed the exemption petition moved by him. The court will hear the case again on March 16.
