IMD Predicts Light Rain, Strong Winds For Delhi-NCR, But No Relief From Humidity
IMD explained that the recent changes in the weather are mainly due to strong moisture-laden winds coming from the Bay of Bengal.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday predicted light rainfall today and tomorrow, accompanied by strong winds in Delhi-NCR. However, it confirmed no major change in the weather despite the rain, and the region is likely to experience heat and humidity for the next few days.
In 2025, there has been consistent rainfall in May, and there were only two to three days of recorded heatwave. But, humidity similar to July and August is now being felt in May itself.
According to a report by News 18, Naresh Kumar, a senior scientist at the IMD, confirmed that several western disturbances had been active in Delhi-NCR recently, which kept the weather relatively pleasant. Currently, there is no likelihood of a new western disturbance arriving. He mentioned that heatwave conditions are prevailing in Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan, and there is a possibility of heatwaves in these areas.
Similarly, southern and northern Uttar Pradesh, as well as Madhya Pradesh, are also experiencing heatwave conditions. But Delhi-NCR remains outside this zone for now, and no heatwave alert has been issued here.
Naresh Kumar further explained that the recent changes in the weather are mainly due to strong moisture-laden winds coming from the Bay of Bengal. Additionally, a low-pressure zone extending from Punjab to Bangladesh is also influencing the weather.
As a result, both heat and humidity have increased in Delhi-NCR. He clarified that there is no relief expected in the next three days. The temperature is not likely to drop significantly, and people will continue to face hot and humid conditions.
Naresh Kumar stated that there is no likelihood of a heatwave in Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurgaon, or Delhi for the next three days. However, there is a possibility of light rainfall today and tomorrow, which might be accompanied by strong winds. Despite the rain, no major change in the weather is expected. The region will continue to experience heat and humidity for the next few days.
Kumar added that it is currently difficult to specify a definite date for the arrival of the monsoon in Delhi-NCR. However, the monsoon is progressing rapidly in Kerala. Based on its progress, estimates can be made about when it will reach Delhi-NCR.
Delhi Experiences Highest Minimum Temperature Of Season
Meanwhile, Delhi on Wednesday experienced the highest minimum temperature of the season so far at 30.2 degrees Celsius, which is 3.5 degrees above normal, according to a report by news agency PTI.
IMD predicted thunderstorms with rain, and the relative humidity at 8.30 am in Delhi was 64 percent. It also confirmed that the maximum temperature is likely to settle at 39 degrees Celsius.
