Dust Storm Sweeps Through Delhi-NCR, Vehicles Damaged As Trees Uprooted Due To Strong Winds: VIDEO
Delhi and surrounding areas faced a sudden dust storm, accompanied by strong winds, thunder, and rain. The IMD issued a warning for intense weather activity in Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan, including dust storms, thunderstorms, and rainfall.

Delhi and several parts of the National Capital Region (NCR) were suddenly engulfed in a dust storm on Friday evening, accompanied by gusty winds, thunder, and light to moderate rainfall. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a detailed alert for multiple areas across Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan, warning of intense weather activity in the next few hours.

According to the IMD bulletin, strong winds ranging between 40 and 40–80 km/h are expected to sweep through areas of Delhi-NCR, bringing dust storms followed by thunderstorms, lightning, and sporadic rainfall. Residents reported reduced visibility, swirling dust, and trees swaying under the impact of gusty winds as the weather took a dramatic turn.

Areas Under Impact
In Haryana, areas such as Karnal, Panipat, Rohtak, Sonipat, Rewari, Jhajjar, Nuh, and Palwal are likely to experience similar weather patterns. Meanwhile, several cities in Uttar Pradesh such as Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Hathras, and Mathura have also been put on alert.
In Rajasthan, Alwar, Deeg, Viratnagar, and Bhiwadi are among the districts expected to be affected by the thunderstorm and rainfall activity.
In addition to thunderstorm and lightning, light to moderate rainfall is also expected in parts of Kurukshetra, Hisar, Jind, Bhiwani (Haryana), and Kotputli, Laxmangarh (Rajasthan), providing brief relief from the ongoing heatwave conditions.
The sudden weather shift comes as a welcome relief after Delhi recorded its warmest night of the season earlier this week, with temperatures touching 40°C. The IMD had earlier predicted that under the influence of a Western Disturbance, rain and thunderstorms would affect North India between April 10 and 11, bringing temporary respite from scorching temperatures.
However, starting April 15, the weather department has forecast the return of heatwave conditions in Delhi-NCR and adjoining regions.
The IMD has urged residents to stay indoors during high wind and lightning activity, avoid sheltering under trees, and secure loose objects outdoors. Commuters are advised to drive cautiously due to reduced visibility during dust storms.
Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and emergency response teams remain on standby in vulnerable areas.
