Andhra DGP Directs 16 IPS Officers Awaiting Posting To Sign Daily Attendance, Report To His Office

The memo comes after Reddy wrote to PM Modi claiming that 27 IAS and 24 IPS officers were being sidelined without postings for reasons "best known" to the local NDA government.

Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) Dwaraka Tirumala Rao issued a directive on Wednesday to 16 senior IPS officers mandating that they mark their attendance at his office twice daily. The officers, who are currently awaiting postings, have been instructed to sign an attendance register at 10 a.m. and again before leaving after office hours.

According to the memo, Rao said, as quoted by PTI, “The IPS officers enclosed in the list, who are waiting for posting, are instructed to attend (the) office of the DGP, AP (Andhra Pradesh), Mangalagiri regularly at 10 am and sign in the attendance register.”

The memo specified that the officers must sign the attendance register in the officers' waiting room "without fail" as part of their daily routine.

The officers named in the directive include PSR Anjaneyulu, Krishna Kanth Patel, P Parameshwar Reddy, P V Sunil Kumar, N Sanjay, Kanthi Ratan Tata, K Raghuram Reddy, R N Ammi Reddy, Vijaya Rao, Vishal Gunni, KKN Anburajan, Y Ravi Shankar Reddy, Y Rishanth Reddy, K Raghuveera Reddy, G Pala Raju, and P Joshua.

The memo, however, did not provide a detailed explanation for this unusual arrangement, leading to speculation among the state's administrative circles. A source mentioned to PTI that there are more officers currently without postings, but only 16 were included in the attendance list released on Wednesday.

This development comes in the backdrop of allegations made by YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) chief and former Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy in a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in July. In his letter, Reddy claimed that 27 IAS and 24 IPS officers were being sidelined without postings for reasons "best known" to the local NDA government.

Meanwhile, as many as 11 Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers 'close' to former CM Jagan also await posting.
