Zidane stands down as Real Madrid manager after third Champions League crown

Zinedine Zidane decided to stand down from his position as the manager of Real Madrid Football Club, just five days after winning the UEFA Champions League title. Addressing an impromptu press conference, Zidane said, "everything changes" and "that's why I took this decision". “I love this club, he added.” He decides to leave the Spanish giants after guiding them to three Champions League titles in a row, LA Liga title and five other major honours since taking over in January 2016. "I know it is a strange moment for everyone involved," said Zidane. "But it had to be done for everybody. "This team has to continue winning and need a change. After three years they need a new voice, a new way of saying things - possibly another way of working. "That's why I've taken that decision. I love this club, I love the president, he's given me the chance to come as a player and a manager. I'm eternally grateful to him but today for me and for everyone we have to change." The 45-year-old becomes the fifth longest-serving manager in Real Madrid’s history. He was appointed as the head coach of Real Madrid Castilla before taking over the reins of the senior side.
