New Delhi: In the wake of coronavirus pandemic, the New Zealand cricket team had to play against Australia in an empty stadium on March 13 at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Post that, the three-match ODI series got cancelled as the New Zealand government tightened its border by enforcing travel restrictions to fight the pandemic.
New Zealand cricket team skipper Kane Williamson, who had expressed gratitude to his country's doctors and caregivers for working 24/7 in the fight against the spread of deadly COVID-19, took to Instagram to post a slow-motion video of him giving some 'slip catching practice' to his pet dog.
"Sandy in the slips! Any other dogs out there joining Sandy? #caninecordon #daytwoisolation (sic.)" said Williamson.
"Events of the past few days have made it clear we're living through a health crisis the likes of which we've never seen. There will no doubt be times in the coming days when the scale of what we're facing will seem overwhelming," Kane Williamson wrote in New Zealand Herald'. "We're so grateful you have our backs. People talk about the pressure sportsmen and women are under to perform, but the truth is we get to do something we love every day for a living.
