Daniil Medvedev's first serve and his aces were the hallmarks of this final. Novak Djokovic had all the support from a fiery New York crowd against a Russian opponent. Despite that, the Serb did not have the legs to stand against a relentless baseline performance by Medvedev. Djokovic could have been the second men's player after Rod Laver to have won a calendar grand slam, had he defeated the world No.2, Medvedev.
Daniil Medvedev got into interesting body positions during the course of his match. He hit his shots with power and precision. It felt like the Russian controlled the game from the baseline. Some old fellas on the internet remembered John McEnroe, the great American tennis player, looking at Medvedev's powerful serves.

Novak's downfall started in the second set when he broke his racket in frustration and received a warning, from the chair-umpire. He never really looked in control of the match since that moment. Djokovic even lost a few supporters during that moment.
To be fair to Djokovic if those Goombas had touched him he'd be half his normal size and I imagine that would have affected his tennis. pic.twitter.com/q7fHJVUmQj

Nonetheless, Medvedev's break in the third set came rather early, and then, he won 4 games in a row. Djokovic won one back but it wasn't enough to stop the onslaught from the world No.2.
We have two new men's and women's champions this year at the US Open. 18-year-old Emma Raducanu of England won the women's US Open title for 2021.
