2023 Was Kuhoo's Second UPSC Attempt

"She has been playing badminton since the age of 9 and started winning medals in the senior national level by the time she was 13. She sustained injury during the Uber Cup Trials and had to undergo a surgery in Mumbai. Upon realising that it may be a long injury layoff for upto an year, she began her UPSC journey. She gave first attempt in 2022, three months into preparation before ultimately clearing the exam in 2023." Kumar, a retired 1989 batch IPS officer, said.

"She used to practice for upto 10 hours a day and suddenly found herself nothing to do. That's when she decided to give it a try. I was there with her helping her in her preparations. She opted for online coaching," he added.

Kuhoo, bearing the roll number 1420215, secured the 178th rank in the UPSC Civil Services Exam 2023, becoming the first female sportsperson of international repute from India to crack the civil services examination.
