Taipei Open 2022: Samiya Imad Crashes Out As Indian Contention Ends In Women’s Singles Event
Samiya Imad Farooqui of India crashes out in Round 2 of Taipei Open 2022 at the hands of Wen Chi Hsu of Chinese Taipei 18-21, 13-21
Taipei Open 2022: India suffered another setback at the Taipei Open 2022 as Samiya Imad Farooqui crashes out in Round 2 of the Women’s Singles event. Imad lost her match to Wen Chi Hsu of Chinese Taipei 18-21, 13-21. The Chinese Taipei player is coming out as one of the strongest players in the tournament as she knocked out one of the favourites, World Number 8 Aya Ohori of Japan, in the first round.
Imad started strong and was leading for a while in the first set. However, Wen-Chi gained points in quick succession to take the lead and close out the set in her favour. In the second round, Imad couldn’t stand the wrath of shots from Wen Chi as Wen Chi walked out as a comfortable winner as she defeated the Indian in straight sets to progress to the next round.
In the Men’s Singles, Kiran George will be in a ‘David vs Goliath’ battle as he takes on World Number 1, Chou Tien Chen in Round 2 of Men’s Singles. However, Kiran will be taking a leaf out of the book of compatriot, HS Prannoy, who achieved the improbable when he knocked the Chinese Taipei player out in the Singapore Open 2022.

All the matches will be played on July 21, Thursday, as Mithun Manjunath Vs Kodai Naraoka promises to be a spectacle as Mithun is coming out as a bright Indian shuttler, whereas, Kodai Naraoka had a strong outing in the recently concluded Singapore Open 2022.
