Sourav Ganguly Buys Rs 40-Crore Home In Kolkata: Report

Sourav Ganguly has been living in his ancestral house on Biren Roy Road in Behala along with other family members for the last 48 years.

New Delhi: Former Indian captain and BCCI chief Sourav Ganguly bought a new home in Kolkata, earlier this year. His new 23.6-cottah plot with a two-storey building is located in Kolkata's Lower Rawdon Street, Telegraph reported. The 50-year-old reportedly bought this house in April 2022 for a jaw-dropping price of INR 40 crore. As per the report in Telegraph, the existing building will be demolished to make way for his new home in central Kolkata.

Ganguly has been living in his ancestral house on Biren Roy Road in Behala along with other family members for the last 48 years. He had once revealed in an interview that many of his former teammates, including Sachin Tendulkar had visited his old house for informal meetups and get-togethers.

Ganguly spent his childhood days in the Behala neighbourhood and went on to win hearts of cricket fans all the nation. Affectionately known as 'Dada', Sourav Ganguly is regarded as one of Indian captains who transformed the national team by giving it 'raw emotions'.

“Happy to have my own home…. I think that’s what it is. Living centrally will also be convenient… and the hardest bit is to leave a place where I lived 48 years,” Ganguly told The Telegraph.

Sourav Ganguly, one of the most successful captains of Indian cricket team, led the Men in Blue in some of their most memorable wins abroad. He instilled aggression in Indian players and taught them to play 'fearless cricket'. Under Ganguly's captaincy, India reached final of Cricket World Cup 2003 in South Africa. He played 113 Tests for India in which he scored 7212 runs. Also, Ganguly has scored 11363 runs in 311 ODIs.
