Siddhant, Tanisha qualify for finals of Roland Garros Jr. Wild-Card Competition

New Delhi [India], April 26 (ANI): Top-seed Siddhant J Banthia and Mann Maulik Shah booked their place in the finals of the Roland Garros Junior Wild-Card Competition as they emerged victorious in their respective semifinal clashes in the boy's category here at the RK Khanna Tennis Complex, DLTA on Thursday.

While it was Rashmikaa S Bhamidipaty and Tanisha Kashyap who emerged victorious in their respective semifinal matches to book their places in the final match of the girls' category.

The 'Roland Garros Junior Wild-Card Competition by Longines' is a part of the fourth edition of the Rendez-Vous a Roland Garros.

In the boys' category, Maharashtra's Siddhant J Banthia secured a berth in the final match of the competition as he defeated fourth-seeded N Calvin Golmei in straight sets 6-2, 6-0. Siddhant had earlier showed great character in his Quarterfinal match against Arjun C Honnappa as he came back from a set down to win by the scoreline of 2-6, 6-3, 7-5, on Wednesday.

Mann Maulik Singh, on the other hand, proved to be the big surprise of the competition as he defeated third-seeded Abhimanyu Vannemreddy in straight sets 6-1, 6-3 in their quarterfinal match held on Wednesday.

Mann, who hails from Gujarat, produced yet another scintillating performance today in the semifinal match as he defeated Dev V Javia in straight sets 6-1, 6-2.

In the girls' category, it was Rashmikaa S Bhamidipaty who played out of her skin in the first semifinal to defeat West Bengal's Yubrani Banerjee in straight sets 6-2, 6-4. Rashmikaa went into her semifinal match high on confidence after defeating No.1 seed Vaidehi Chaudhari 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 in their quarterfinal match on Wednesday.

Assam's Tanisha Kashyap also put up tireless performances in her quarterfinal and semifinal matches as she defeated two seeded players to secure a place in the final. In her quarterfinal match, Tanisha defeated fourth-seeded Shivani Amineni in straight sets 6-4, 6-2; whereas her semifinal victory came against second-seeded Prinkle Singh 6-3, 1-6, 6-4.

'Roland Garros Junior Wild-Card Competition by Longines' culminates on Friday where the boys and girls will be taking part in their respective final matches to fight for the ticket to Paris as the winners of the competition will get a chance to participate in the Wild Card Qualifiers of the Junior French Open 2018.(ANI)
