A Day To Forget For Grigor Dimitrov
However, it was not a memorable day for the Bulgarian player as he suffered a defeat in the quarter finals of the Roland Garros 2024. Jannik Sinner won the game in straight sets to eliminate the world number 10 and has now marched into the semi finals of the tournament. Grigov Dimitrov endured a terrible first two sets, but came to life in the third one, as he achieved something which he could not throughout the course of the match, and that was breaking Jannik Sinner.
The Bulgarian did it when Jannik Sinner was serving for the match and came back from the match point to force a tiebreaker but sadly for him, it ended heavily in favour of the Italian player. With the defeat, Grigor Dimitrov has brought an end to his splendid run at Roland Garros 2024, as he secured his first ever quarter final match at a Grand Slam in a long career.
Even though it was his first quarter final appearance, there is no denying for the fact that he has remained one of the most inspirational players out there, with him achieving 3rd ranking back in his career, which still remains a record in his country, as he, till date, is the highest-ever ranked Bulgarian player.
