Archery, Tokyo 2020: Deepika Kumari Storms Into Quarter Finals After 6-4 Win Against USA
Tokyo 2020: India's hopes for a medal in archery cling on to the shoulders of Deepika Kumari as she has entered into the quarter-finals of the Tokyo Olympics.
Tokyo: Deepika Kumari, the Indian archer has stormed into the quarter-finals of the Tokyo Olympic Games. She won a nervy match against the USA's Jennifer Mucino Fernandez by 6-4. It was a close contest between the two. Kumari's quarter-final match will be played on 30 July at 6 am IST.
Kumari defeated Bhutan's Bhu Karma 6-0 in the 1/32 eliminations round earlier on Wednesday. Bhu Karma was not able to make a comeback in the game as Deepika constantly shot 9's throughout the match. Deepika Kumari is the only flag-bearer for India as far as Archery is concerned. Rest all Indian contenders have been eliminated.

Tarundeep Rai and Pravin Jadhav were eliminated on Wednesday in the Round-of-16 match. India's contender-ship in the Mixed Archery event has also ended after the team of Deepika Kumari and Pravin Jadhav were knocked out in the 1/16 elimination round.
Veteran Archer Tarundeep Rai's journey at Tokyo Olympics 2020 came to an end in the Men's Individual Round of 32 match. After the match was tied 5-5 after 5 sets, the final outcome was decided by the shoot-off against Israel's Itay Shanny where Taruhndeep could manage only 9.
Pravin Jadhav had a stunning Round of-32 match but failed to replicate his performance in the 1/16 elimination round. The 31st seeded star Indian Archer defeated World No. 2 and Russia's Galsan Bazarzhapov 6-0 in the 1/32 eliminations round of Tokyo Olympics 2020.
In other sports for India, Badminton star, PV Sindhu progresses out of Group J to the Round of 16 and secure a spot in the knockout round.
India's women's hockey team lost 1-4 to Great Britain. This is their third straight loss.
