Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with India's javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra to congratulate him on winning the silver medal at the Paris Olympics 2024.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with India's javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra to congratulate him on winning the silver medal at the Paris Olympics 2024. Modi also inquired about his injury and told Neeraj that he should set aside thoughts of gold medals, as he himself is the greatest gold for the country. Tokyo Olympics gold medallist, Chopra, clinched India's fifth medal and the only silver at the Paris Games 2024 on August 8 as he clinched the silver after a 89.45 metres throw, standing only behind Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem, who set an Olympics record after a throw of 92.97 metres.
During the call, Modi praised Neeraj Chopra for making the nation proud, while Chopra expressed a little regret that he could not win a gold again at the Olympics and for being unable to push himself further due to his injuries. In response, the Prime Minister commended Chopra’s dedication, saying, “You’ve given your best despite the injuries and we are proud of you. This silver medal is a triumph for us.”
