The Serbain legend has reportedly sustained a tear in the meniscus in his right knee and is now even dobtful for the upcoming Wimbledon 2024, the only Grand Slam he failed to win last year, as he ended up as a runner-up to the winner Carlos Alcaraz. With his withdrawal, Paris are guaranteed to see a new winner as his title defence now comes to an end.

His opponent for the quarter finals, Casper Ruud will be getting a walkover now, and the Norwegian shared a special message for the Serbian, wishing him a speedy recovery. The 25-year old will now await his opponent which is to be determined via the remaining fixture of Alexander Zverev Vs Alex di Minaur.

Roland Garros' Official Statement On Novak Djokovic's Withdrawal
"Injured right knee, Novak Djokovic was forced to withdraw from Roland-Garros before his quarter-final. Heroic against Francisco Cerundolo on Monday when he found himself trailing two sets to one (with a break behind in the fourth) before winning 6/1, 5/7, 3/6, 7/ 5, 6/3 after 4h39 of fighting to qualify for his 15th quarter-final at Roland-Garros, Novak Djokovic had expressed some reservations about his physical state at the end of the match."
"This withdrawal of the Serb has two immediate consequences. One on the table, with the qualification of Casper Ruud (n°7) for the semi-finals of the men's singles for the third consecutive year. The other on the ATP ranking, of which Jannik Sinner (No. 2) is now guaranteed to become the 29th number one this Monday, June 10, regardless of his final result in this 2024 edition of Roland-Garros."
