Jasprit Bumrah Ruled Out Of T20 WC 2022? BCCI Chief Sourav Ganguly Shares Major Update
BCCI chief Sourav Ganguly made it clear that the Indian team management is still hopeful about Bumrah getting fit for T20 WC 2022 in Australia.
Jasprit Bumrah in T20 World Cup 2022: Indian cricket team's star pacer Jasprit Bumrah's participation in the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia is in major doubt after he sustained a back injury on the eve of India vs South Africa T20 series. With less than a month remaining for the mega event, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has only announced 'injured' Bumrah not being fit for India's three-match T20 International series against South Africa but an official update on his participation in T20 World Cup 2022 is still awaited. The lethal pacer missed Asia Cup 2022 due to the same injury.
In the meantime, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) chief Sourav Ganguly revealed that the Indian team management is still hopeful of Bumrah getting fit in time for T20 WC 2022 in Australia. The former India skipper asserted Bumrah is 'is still not ruled out of T20 World Cup yet.'
"Jasprit Bumrah is still not ruled out of T20 World Cup yet. The World Cup is still quite some time away. Lets not jump the gun," said Ganguly to Rev Sports.
Bumrah is currently undergoing rehab at Bengaluru's National Cricket Academy (NCA). In case Bumrah is ruled out of T20 World Cup 2022, Mohammed Shami, Deepak Chahar or Mohammed Siraj are the top names who might replace him in India's T20 WC 2022 squad.
Rohit Sharma-led India is currently playing a three-match T20 series against South Africa. India defeated Proteas in series opener to take a 1-0 lead, while India vs South Africa 2nd T20 International will be played in Assam's Guwahati on October 2 and Ind vs SA 3rd T20 International will be held in Indore on October 4. After this, the Indian team will fly for the T20 World Cup 2022 on October 5.
