"Ole will always be a legend at Manchester United and it is with regret that we have reached this difficult decision. While the past few weeks have been disappointing, they should not obscure all the work he has done over the past three years to rebuild the foundations for long-term success," Man United said in a statement.
Michael Carrick To Be Interim Manager
"Michael Carrick will now take charge of the team for forthcoming games, while the club looks to appoint an interim manager to the end of the season," the statement from the club added.
The decision has been taken after an emergency meeting that lasted for several hours which was attended by Joel Glazer, the co-chairman of the Glazers Group that owns Manchester United, the Guardian reported. The meeting was called after United's humiliating 1-4 loss to Watford football club.

It is understood that the first-team coach, Michael Carrick, and the club’s technical director, Darren Fletcher will take over the reins at Man United until they find a suitable manager. Meanwhile, Man United is looking to compensate Ole Gunnar Solskjaer by £7.75million, as reported by Manchester Evening News.
