Virat Kohli Eyes Historic IPL Record In IPL 2025 Final

Virat Kohli has been in stellar form this season, scoring 614 runs in 14 matches at a remarkable average, including eight fifties.

The grand finale of IPL 2025 will witness Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) taking on Punjab Kings at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad today. While both teams are eyeing their maiden IPL title, all eyes will be on Virat Kohli, who stands just 86 runs away from a historic personal milestone.

Kohli One Step Away from Unique IPL Record

Virat Kohli has been in stellar form this season, scoring 614 runs in 14 matches at a remarkable average, including eight fifties. He now needs just 86 more runs to reach the 700-run mark for IPL 2025 season — a milestone no player has achieved across three different IPL seasons.

Kohli had previously amassed:

973 runs in 2016 (all-time IPL record)

741 runs in 2024

If he crosses 700 again in IPL 2025, Kohli will become the first-ever cricketer to reach the mark in three separate seasons. Currently, he shares the record of two 700+ seasons with Chris Gayle (2012 and 2013).

RCB's Long-Awaited Shot at Glory

This is RCB’s fourth IPL final after finishing runners-up in 2009, 2011, and 2016. Despite consistent appearances in playoffs over the years, the elusive title has remained out of reach. A win today would end their 17-year title drought and finally bring the trophy to Bangalore.

Head-to-Head Battle: Balanced Rivalry

RCB and Punjab Kings have faced off 36 times in IPL history, with both teams winning 18 matches each. However, RCB has had the upper hand recently, winning four of their last five clashes. This will also be just the second time the two teams face each other at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

As the stage is set for a thrilling finale, Virat Kohli has a chance to not only lead RCB to their first title but also carve his name into IPL history once again.
