Travis Head Reveals Origin Of Abhishek Sharma's Celebration Slip

Abhishek Sharma, upon reaching his ton, pulled out a slip from his pocket with a special message dedicated to the Orange Army.

Sunrisers Hyderabad opener Abhishek Sharma created a memorable moment in IPL 2025 by scoring his maiden century against Punjab Kings, reaching the milestone in just 40 balls. But what grabbed even more attention was his unique celebration - pulling out a slip from his pocket with a special message dedicated to the Orange Army.

After the match, Abhishek's opening partner Travis Head revealed an interesting detail about the celebration. He shared that Abhishek had been carrying that slip for the past six matches, waiting for the right moment to bring it out. "That note had been in his pocket for six games," Head said. "I'm glad he finally got to show it tonight."

Until now, Abhishek hadn't found the performance to match his anticipation. But with this explosive knock, the long-awaited gesture finally became reality — making it a celebration to remember for both him and the fans.

"This one is very special, because I wanted to break that losing streak. Losing four back-to-back matches was very tough. But we never talked about it in the team. Special mention to Yuvi paji (Yuvraj Singh) and Suryakumar (Yadav) as well. They have been in touch with me," said Abhishek, whose fiery innings helped Hyderabad chase down the mammoth 245/6 with nine balls remaining.

"The atmosphere was simple even though the batters were not doing well," he said, asserting that SRH's dressing room enviornment remained calm even when the team was struggling.

"I have been waiting for them (parents). My whole team was waiting for my parents because they've been lucky for SRH," Abhishek said.

The young opener added that the easy-paced wicket helped him innovate his shots.

"If you have seen me close enough I never play behind the wicket. But I was wanting to invent a few shots which was very easy on this wicket. It helped us both (him and opening partner Travis Head). We didn't talk anything. It was just natural play for (both of) us. The partnership boosted me up," he said.
