‘MS Dhoni Is The Heartbeat Of CSK’: Fleming Lauds Mahi After Victory Over PBKS
The CSK Captain has been leading the franchise since the first edition and Fleming has been his constant partner in pursuit.
IPL 2021: Chennai Super Kings registered their first victory against Punjab Kings on Friday. Going against the latest trend of having close matches in IPL 2021, this match was a relatively easy one for CSK. Chennai defeated Punjab in the 16th over of the match, by 6 wickets. Deepak Chahar took 4/13 in his quota of four overs. Post the match, New Zealand legend and the coach of CSK, Stephen Fleming was all praises for MS Dhoni.
It was the 200th game of MS Dhoni as a CSK player. "His longevity has to be mentioned and appreciated... to play 200 games and still have a desire to do well is a testament to his attitude towards the game and franchise,” Fleming said while praising MSD.
"I think the franchise has grown and MS has grown with it, so it is a great relationship and great fun," he continued. Fleming has been associated with CSK since 2008, just like Mahi. He was there as a player in 2008 and then as a coach since that very year.
Fleming went on praising Dhoni and his importance as a player in CSK. “He is the heartbeat of CSK, there's no doubt about it. Whether it's performance, guidance or leadership, you run out of things to say about him."
Well, this is not a new fact that Fleming reiterated. Harbhajan Singh in one of his interviews had said about how things work one-dimensionally in CSK. How all the decisions have to go through MS Dhoni and no changes can be made in the side without the approval of MS Dhoni.
CSK has won the competition three times and also won a Champions League under the leadership of MS Dhoni. Last year, in 2020 CSK couldn’t qualify for play-offs and that was the first time it happened in the history of CSK.
