Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) are set to face off in the second match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 edition at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on March 23 (Sunday) afternoon. Last season, the Pat Cummins-led SRH had edged past the Royals in Qualifier 2 of the playoffs before falling short against Kolkata Knight Riders in the final.

In IPL 2025 both SRH and RR displayed strong batting performances, with Sunrisers Hyderabad often leading the way in posting big totals. Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head delivered fiery starts at the top, while Nitish Kumar Reddy and Heinrich Klaasen made valuable contributions in the middle order. This year, Hyderabad have bolstered its squad further with the addition of Ishan Kishan, who will only make SRH’s batting lineup even more impressive.

Rajasthan Royals, meanwhile, have made significant changes ahead of the new season, releasing Jos Buttler before the auction. They’ve opted to back domestic talent, retaining a solid Indian core that includes Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Riyan Parag and Dhruv Jurel. Sandeep Sharma has also earned his place in the squad following a string of consistent performances.

Notably, RR’s regular skipper Sanju Samson will only play as a batter in the first three games due to an injury with Riyan Parag leading the side.
