Abhishek blazed his way to 66 runs off just 28 balls. His explosive innings propelled Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) to chase down the target of 215 runs with four wickets to spare, securing a remarkable win.

Abhishek Sharma's fiery knock earned him his record third Player of the Match award of the 2024 season. During his explosive innings, the SRH star smashed six sixes, registering himself into the record books as the first Indian player to hit 40 or more sixes in a single season of Indian Premier League (IPL).

The 23-year-old sensation surpassed Virat Kohli's record for most sixes by an Indian cricketer in a single IPL season. Kohli had previously smashed 38 sixes while amassing 973 runs in IPL 2016. With a tally of 37 sixes in the ongoing IPL 2024 season, the former RCB captain now strives to reclaim this 'six-hitting record' once more.

Virat Kohli will have a chance to surpass Abhishek Sharma when Royal Challengers Bengaluru takes on Rajasthan Royals in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 Eliminator on Wednesday (May 22) at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium.

Meanwhile, Abhishek Sharma's Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will take on table-toppers Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in IPL 2024 Qualifier 1 on Tuesday (May 21) in Ahmedabad. The winner of Qualifier 1 will earn a ticket to IPL 2024 final, while the loser will go up against winner of Eliminator (RR-RCB clash on May 22, Wednesday) in Qualifier 2 on Friday (May 24).
