Mumbai Indians Outclass SRH With All-Round Show At Wankhede

Mumbai won the toss and chose to bowl first - a move that worked in their favor as they restricted Hyderabad to a modest total.

An all-round show by Mumbai Indians (MI) helped them secure a four-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at Wankhede Stadium.

The bowlers set the tone early by restricting Hyderabad to a modest total, and the batters chased it down comfortably with solid contributions across the order. This win comes as a much-needed boost for MI in their IPL 2025 campaign.

MI remain in 7th place on the IPL 2025 points table despite their win over Hyderabad. The victory keeps their playoff hopes alive, but there's still work to be done in the second half of the season. SRH, on the other hand, stay at 9th.

Mumbai Indians won the toss and chose to bowl first - a move that worked in their favor as they restricted Sunrisers Hyderabad to 162/5 in 20 overs. Despite a reputation for explosive batting, SRH struggled to break free against disciplined bowling from MI.

Abhishek and Klaasen anchor the innings

Sunrisers' batting lineup found it difficult to score freely, with only Abhishek Sharma and Heinrich Klaasen offering resistance. Abhishek scored a fluent 40 off 28 deliveries, hitting 7 fours, while Klaasen added 37 from 28 balls with 3 boundaries and 2 sixes. Their efforts helped SRH post a competitive total, though far below expectations.

Last over push saves Hyderabad

SRH's total was significantly boosted by a 22-run final over bowled by Hardik Pandya. Aniket Verma smashed two sixes to remain unbeaten on 18 off 8 balls, while Pat Cummins added a quick 8 off 4 with one maximum. Without this late burst, Hyderabad's innings would have looked even more underwhelming.

Travis Head struggled to get going and scored a slow 28 from 29 balls. Nitish Reddy added 19 off 21 but couldn't accelerate when it mattered, and Ishan Kishan was dismissed early for just 2 runs. The inability to find boundaries regularly put SRH under pressure throughout the innings.

MI bowlers deliver with discipline

Jasprit Bumrah was once again the standout bowler, conceding only 21 runs in his 4 overs and taking a wicket. Will Jacks also impressed, picking up 2 wickets for just 14 runs in his 3 overs. However, Deepak Chahar and Hardik Pandya proved costly, giving away 47 and 42 runs respectively.
