IPL 2023: Rohit Sharma Stunned After CSK's Tushar Deshpande Destroys MI Captain's Middle Stump

Mumbai Indians (MI) were left shell-shocked after Chennai Super Kings (CSK) pacer Tushar Deshpande clean bowled famed MI batter Rohit Sharma for 13-balls 21 in the fourth over.  

MI vs CSK IPL 2023 match: The El Classico of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 is being played between Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians (MI) and MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the iconic Wankhede Stadium on Saturday (April 8). Five-time Indian Premier League (IPL) winners Mumbai Indians (MI) were left shell-shocked after Chennai Super Kings (CSK) pacer Tushar Deshpande clean bowled famed MI batter Rohit Sharma for 13-balls 21 in the fourth over.

Rohit Sharma has been playing IPL since its inaugural edition in 2008. From 2008 to 2016 season, Rohit scored over 350 runs every season. But since then, Rohit has struggled for runs. In last 6 IPL seasons, the legendary MI skipper scored 350-plus runs only twice. In two IPL seasons, Rohit could not even score 300 runs. Last year,Rohit scored just 268 runs at an average of 19 without scoring a single fifty. It was the first time in IPL history that Rohit did not score a fifty in an entire IPL season.

CSK's MS Dhoni won the toss and invited MI to bat first. Chennai Super Kings restricted Mumbai Indians to 157/8 in 20 overs on the back of a brilliant performance by the bowlers. For Mumbai, Ishaan Kishan scored the maximum 32 runs off 21 balls. Tim David contributed with 31 runs off 22 balls. Tilak Verma scored 22, skipper Rohit Sharma scored 21, Hrithik Shokeen scored 18 not out while Cameron Green added 12 runs to MI's total.

Ravindra Jadeja took the most wickets for Chennai. The senior all-rounder rocked MI's batting lineup by taking three wickets for 20 runs in four overs. Mitchell Santner and Tushar Deshpande bagged two wickets apiece, while Sisanda Magala picked one wicket.
