Chennai Super Kings, after being invited to bat first, gave Lucknow Super Giants a target of 218 runs. CSK scored 217 runs for loss of seven wickets in their alloted 20 overs. Rituraj Gaikwad continued his form from his last innings as the talented young opener slammed a half-century in his second consecutive IPL 2023 match.

Gaikwad played a stormy inning of 57 runs off 31 balls with help of three fours and four sixes. Apart from Rituraj, Devon Conway played an inning of 47 runs off 29 balls, laced up with five fours and two sixes. Gaikwad and Conway stitched a solid partnership of 110 runs in 9.1 overs for the first wicket. For Lucknow, Ravi Bishnoi bagged the maximum three wickets while Chris Wood picked two wickets.
