CSK, who are currently struggling this season, are in dire need of an explosive batter, as their scoring rate is the lowest amongst all the teams.
Dewald Brevis has been signed for INR 2.2 crore, and can potentially feature for CSK in thier next match against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium, on Sunday, April 20.
CSK, who had 7 foreigners in their squad, were able to sign an overseas player against an Indian player, because IPL allows franchises to have maximum 8 overseas players in their side.
Dewald Brevis is an exciting batter, and has been nicknamed 'Baby De Villiers' due to his similarity of playstyle to that of South African legend AB De Villiers.
CSK are currently at the bottom of the table with 2 wins and 5 losses, and their chances of qualifying for the playoffs are slowly fading away.
Never in the history of IPL have CSK failed to qualify for the playoffs in two consecutive season.
The 5-time champions have only failed to reach the last four on three occasions (2020, 2022, 2024).
