Arjun Tendulkar Has Inherited The Temperament Of His Father Sachin: Sunil Gavaskar
Arjun Tendulkar returned with figures of 1 for 18 in the IPL 2023 SRH vs MI match on Tuesday.
Former India captain one of India's all-time cricket legends Sunil Gavaskar reckons that it was Sachin Tendulkar's temperament which made him different from the others long before he had started peforming like the world-feared batter he went on to become in his career. He said that his son Arjun seems to have inherited the same kind of temperament from his father.
Gavaskar's comments came after Mumbai Indians' 14-run win over Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Tuesday. Notably, Tendulkar Jr was handed the last over by the MI captain Rohit Sharma with the chasing team needing 20 to get off the final 6 balls with 2 wickets in hand. The left-arm fast-medium bowler conceded 4 runs and a leg bye before taking a wicket to wrap up the Hyderabad innings and help Mumbai script their third straight win. Playing his second game, Arjun returned with figures of 1 for 18 in 2.5 overs.
It was talking about the 23-year-old's performance that Gavaskar made this observation about his temperament being similar to that of his legendary father.
"Everybody talks about the amazing talent Sachin Tendulkar had at the start of his career. But it was his temperament that was absolutely amazing, and Arjun seems to have inherited that. He seems to be a shrewd thinker as well. It's always a good sign when a youngster is bowling the final over for the team and delivering," he said on Star Sports Cricket Live.
As a result of MI's win on Wednesday, the Blue and Gold Brigade now find themselves at the sixth place on the points table with 3 wins from 5 matches with a net run rate of -0.164. 4 teams ranked ahead of them all have 6 points from 5 matches but have a better net run rate. Rajasthan Royals with 8 points from 5 matches are at the top of the table, as things stand.
