IPL 2022: Mumbai To Host 55 Matches, 15 To Be Played In Pune - Report

IPL 2022 might start from March 26 or 27. BCCI wanted to start the tournament from Sunday, March 27, but the official broadcaster is giving more emphasis to March 26.

New Delhi: The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 will be hosted in India across four venues, one in Pune and three in Mumbai, a report in Cricbuzz stated. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), in all likelihood, will organize the cash-rich T20 tournament in India this year.

According to the report in Cricbuzz, Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium, Brabourne Stadium and DY Patil Stadium are likely to host 55 matches of IPL 2022. The MCA International Stadium in Pune is likely to host the remaining 15 matches. BCCI has not yet made any formal announcement on the IPL 2022 schedule.

All the teams will reportedly play four matches each at Wankhede and DY Patil Stadiums and three matches each in Brabourne and Pune.

As earlier reported by Cricbuzz, talking about the start date of IPL 2022, the tournament might start from March 26 or 27. BCCI wanted to start the tournament from Sunday, March 27, but the official broadcaster is giving more emphasis to March 26.

The tournament is set to conclude on Sunday, May 29. The venues for the playoffs have not yet been decided.

The addition of two new franchises - Ahmedabad and Lucknow - in IPL has made the tournament a 10-team affair. A total of 204 players went under the hammer in the recently concluded IPL 2022 mega auction in Bangalore, in which Ishan Kishan was the most expensive player. In all, 237 players will take part in IPL 2022.
