The auction for the 14th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to take place on February 18. A total of 1097 players (814 Indian and 283 overseas players) will be involved in this year's auction. IPL has given this information on its official Twitter handle. The BCCI had recently clarified that every effort is being made to ensure IPL 14 takes place in India. The 13th season of IPL was played in the UAE due to Coronavirus.

Smith was released by Rajasthan Royals (RR) ahead of the IPL auction and Sanju Samson was appointed the new captain of RR. Another Aussie great, Aaron Finch was released by the Royal Challengers Bangalore this year.
Glenn Maxwell, who played poorly for Kings XI Punjab in IPL 2020, will also be up in the auction this year. The Aussie star all-rounder will too be an interesting player to watch out for as he had scored a lot of runs in both ODIs and T20s against India after the IPL.
