Revealed: Why England Players Wore Black Armbands In Ind vs Eng Chennai Test?

India vs England Chennai Test: The players of England cricket team were seen wearing black armbands in the Ind vs Eng 1st Test.

Thanks to the brilliant innings of Joe Root and opener Dominic Sibley, England scored 263 runs, losing three wickets at the end of the first day of India vs England 1st Test. Skipper Root today scored the 20th century of his career. At the end of day's play, he remained unbeaten on 128.

In the last over of the day, Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Sibley (87). Root and Sibley shared a 200-run partnership for the third wicket. For India, Jasprit Bumrah and Ravichandran Ashwin took two and one wicket respectively.

The players of England cricket team were seen wearing black armbands in the Ind vs Eng 1st Test. The players have tied the black armbands in honor of war veteran Sir Tom Moore, former captain of the British Army, who played an important role in the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic. Moore died aged 100, earlier this week.

Sir Tom Moore was born in 1920 in Kigali, a village in Yorkshire. At the age of just 20, he joined the British Army. Moore served in the military in India and Burma, joining the Eighth Battalion of the Duke of Wellington Regiment during World War II.

The second year after joining the army, Moore was promoted as a second lieutenant and became a member of the Royal Armed Corps and was posted to India. In India, he trained his fellow soldiers in tank warfare and motorcycling.
