Chahal took two consecutive wickets in his very first over. As soon as he picked his very first wicket (Nicholas Pooran), he completed a 'special century' in One Day International cricket. The spinner attained the record of completing 100 wickets in One Day International cricket.
Chahal achieved this feat in India's 1000th ODI, which he will surely remember for a very long time. Not only this, after departing Pooran, he also clean bowled West Indies team captain Kieron Pollard on the very next ball.
Pollard failed to read a googly from leg-spinner Chahal and ended up losing his wicket. After this, Yuzvendra Chahal was on a hat-trick. Captain Rohit Sharma and former captain Virat Kohli set up a good field to help Chahal get a hat-trick, but unfortunately he failed to get a third wicket to complete his hat-trick.
Yuzvendra Chahal crossed the 100-wicket mark in his 60th ODI. Before him, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav and Irfan Pathan have taken the fastest 100 wickets for India in ODI cricket. Chahal, today, also became the 2nd fastest Indian spinner after Kuldeep Yadav to pick up 100 ODI wickets.
