Ind vs WI: Shikhar Dhawan's Classy Reply To 'What Type Of Captain You Are' Question - Watch

Senior opener Shikhar Dhawan has got a chance to lead the Indian team for the second time during the ongoing three-match ODI series against West Indies.

New Delhi: Stand-in skipper Shikhar Dhawan has become the seventh player to lead the Indian team this year in the ODI series against the West Indies. In the last two decades, many times international teams have had to make changes in captaincy within a year and India too has not remained untouched by it.

Shikhar Dhawan has got a chance to lead the Indian team for the second time during the ongoing three-match ODI series against West Indies. Earlier, he took charge of the team against Sri Lanka last year.

During the toss in the first match, when former West Indies batsman Darren Ganga asked Dhawan about his captaincy style, the Indian captain in response called himself a 'cool captain'.

"I am a very cool captain. I make sure the team's energy stays up and of course I love to take all the right decisions and keep the process going," said Dhawan.

"The bench strength is complementary to domestic and IPL cricket. This is a great opportunity to showcase talent, show fight, and win the series. Surya, Shreyas, Samson are all good. Even myself (laughs). We get support here, from abroad and locals which is good," said Dhawan.

Batting first, India  scored 308 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the first ODI in their stipulated 50 overs.  For India, captain Shikhar Dhawan top-scored with 97 runs, Shubman Gill scored 64 and Shreyas Iyer scored 54 runs.  Alzarri Joseph and Gudakesh Moti took two wickets each for West Indies.
