The senior all-rounder, playing one of the finest knocks of his Test career, notched up a hard-fought ton off 183 balls. The knock by Jadeja will forever be remembered as one of the top knocks by an all-rounder against England, in England. Team India were in a big spot of bother when Jadeja came out to bat on Day 1. The visitors had lost five wickets for 98 runs after England invited India to bat first. Jadeja and Rishabh Pant were in no mood to give up as they stitched a record-breaking 222-run partnership for sixth wicket. While Jadeja notched up his ton on Day 2, his partner Rishabh Pant attained the milestone in just 89 balls.

Rishabh Pant (146) followed by Ravindra Jadeja's 104 and captain Jasprit Bumrah's swashbuckling innings in the death overs helped the Indian team cross the 400-run mark for the first time after losing 5 wickets within 100 runs on foreign soil. India got all out for 416 runs in the first innings against England.  Earlier, India have scored more than 400 scores on home soil after losing 5 wickets within 100 runs.
