T20 World Cup: Huge Setback For India As Dinesh Karthik Suffers Back Injury
India vs Bangladesh: Board of Control for Cricket In India (BCCI) is yet to reveal the exact nature of Karthik's injury, but it seemed like a back spasm.
Dinesh Karthik injury: Team India's T20 World Cup squad's oldest member Dinesh Karthik, on Sunday, sustained a back injury during India vs South Africa T20 World Cup match and is a doubtful for match against Bangladesh at Adelaide on November 2, Wednesday, PTI reported. Karthik was struggling to score runs in Ind-SA fixture as he failed to cope with pace and bounce on offer at bowling-friendly Perth track. Board of Control for Cricket In India (BCCI) is yet to reveal the exact nature of Karthik's injury, but it seemed like a back spasm. The wicket-keeper batter now has only three days to get fit for India-Bangladesh fixture. Karthik was on his knees at the end of the 15th over. Team India's physio immediately rushed to check the senior batter and after a few minutes, the veteran left the playing field while holding his back.

During IND vs SA post-match media conference, India pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar too confirmed that Karthik had sustained a back injury.
"I know he had some back issue. Obviously, the physio will give a report and we will have more clarity after that," Bhuvneshwar said during the post-match media conference.
Rishabh Pant, who is yet to officially be named in India's playing XI for a T20 World Cup 2022 match, was brought in to keep wickets for last five overs after Karthik left the field. Notably, if Karthik fails to get fit in time, fans might soon see the hard-hitter from Roorkee get drafted in playing XI.
