'India Is Still So Proud': Fans React As 18-Year-Old Praggnanandhaa Makes Carlsen Sweat For Victory

Despite losing the game, Praggnanandhaa won the hearts of many as he showed terrific composure and some extraordinary moves throughout the tournament. 

World no. 1 Chess player Magnus Carlsen outplayed the 18-year-old prodigy Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa in the FIDE Chess World Cup 2023 final and went on to add the title which was missing from his illustrious career. It was on Tuesday when the final game started after Game 1 between the duo finished in a draw after 35 moves. It was a tough contest between the two as the result did not come even after Game 2 concluded on Wednesday. The nail-biting thriller went on to a tie-breaker on Thursday. Despite losing the game, Praggnanandhaa won the hearts of many as he showed terrific composure and some extraordinary moves throughout the tournament. 

Earlier, On Monday, the 18-year-old outplayed world No. 3 Fabiano Caruana of the USA in tie-breaks during the FIDE World Chess Cup semifinal. Back when he was 18, he defeated Magnus Carlsen in a rapid game at the Airthings Masters Rapid Chess Tournament on 22 February 2022 and went on to become the youngest player to seal victory against the Norwegian. Social media looked quite impressed after seeing Praggnanandhaa's tremendous effort.
