Formula 1 2023 British Grand Prix Race Results: Max Verstappen Wins For First Time At Silverstone Circuit

British GP 2023: Max Verstappen's maiden victory at the Silverstone Circuit marked Red Bull's 10th consecutive win this season and their 11th consecutive F1 win.

Max Verstappen of Red Bull survived an early push from McLaren opponent Lando Norris to win the 2023 British Grand Prix at Silverstone, marking his maiden victory at this event and extending his current winning streak to six races. This also marked Red Bull's 10th consecutive win this season and their 11th consecutive F1 win.

Norris took the lead from Verstappen soon after the start lights went green, with McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri almost matching Verstappen, leading to a McLaren sandwich with Red Bull as the filling during the opening four laps, but the reigning double world champion quickly fought back for the lost position. Verstappen, with a little help from the DRS of his RB18, reclaimed P1 and cruised to victory with the fastest lap of the race.

Lap 33 saw Kevin Magnussen’s Hass up in flames due to an engine failure. This caused the Virtual Safety Car (VSC) to be deployed and soon after the Safety Car was out, neutralizing the field. The shift from VSC to Safety Car caused Oscar Piastri losing out P3 to Lewis Hamilton in the pits. With Norris shifting to hard tyres and Hamilton to faster softs, the McLaren driver pull off an impressive defence to remain P2 over the 7-time World Champion. Piastri’s 4th place finish, ahead of George Russell of Mercedes, was best ever in his maiden F1 season.

Sergio Perez recovered to 6th place after starting sixteenth following his current qualifying shenanigans, making a series of late manoeuvres to finish ahead of Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso, Alexander Albon of Williams, and the Ferrari duo of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz rounding up the points.

Logan Sargeant of Williams missed out on his first F1 points, the rookie finishing his best ever 11th. Following the American was Finnish driver and nude exhibitionist Valtteri Bottas for Alfa Romeo-Sauber, who started from the back of the grid. Haas’s Nico Hulkenberg was 13 after an early visit to the pits due to front wing damage.

Unlike the recent success of his teammate Fernando Alonso, Lance Stroll was penalised five seconds for colliding with Alpine’s Pierre Gasly. Stroll finished 14th while Frenchman Gasly retired out of the race due to the collusion, joining team mate Esteban Ocon, who pitted early to DNF due to technical trouble.
