Delhi Daredevils vs Kolkata Knight Riders LIVE SCORES IPL 2016 Eden Gardens

LIVE SCORES | DD vs KKR | IPL 2016 | EDEN GARDENS

FULL SCORECARD

A great start to the season for Kolkata Knight Riders. They not only won their opening match but did so with a big margin. It will help their Net Run Rate. First their bowlers led by Brad Hogg and Andre Russell bowled out Delhi Daredevils cheaply for 98 runs and then captain Gautam Gambhir and Robin Uthappa ensured that the team achieve the target without any problems.
Kolkata Knight Riders innings
  • That's it. KKR have won this match by 9 wickets.
  • 14 overs: Coulter-Nile bowled an expensive over to end his quota. 13 runs off it. Kolkata Knight Riders 97/1 (2 runs required from 36 balls).
  • 13 overs: Good over to end his quota by Morris. Just 2 off it. Kolkata Knight Riders 84/1 (15 runs required from 42 balls).
  • 12 overs: Coulter-Nile gave 6 runs in the over. Kolkata Knight Riders 82/1 (17 runs required from 48 balls). Gambhir 31 (35b 4x4 0x6), Pandey 6 (5b 1x4 0x6), Coulter-Nile 3-0-19-0, Morris 3-0-19-0.
  • 11 overs: Gautam Gambhir is in no hurry to win this match. He is playing clamly without taking any risk. Morris gave 7 runs in this over. Kolkata Knight Riders 76/1 (23 runs required from 54 balls).
  • 10 overs: Mishra provided the first wicket to Daredevils. 7 runs came off the over. Kolkata Knight Riders 69/1 (30 runs required from 60 balls).
  • WICKET! Finally something success for Delhi Daredevils. Mishra has got Uthappa. Flighted, pitched up, Uthappa wanted to clear long-off but hit it straight to the fielder. Robin Uthappa c Morris b Mishra 35 (33b 7x4 0x6).
  • 9 overs: Brathwaite was all over the place in his second over. Lucky that he conceded only 9 runs.  Kolkata Knight Riders 62/0 (37 runs required from 11 overs).
  • 8 overs: Amit Mishra bowled well in his first over. 4 runs from it. Kolkata Knight Riders 53/0 (46 runs required from 12 overs).
  • 7 overs: Carlos Brathwaite bowled his first over. It was a good one. Just 2 off it. Kolkata Knight Riders 49/0 (50 runs required from 13 overs).
  • 6 overs: Robin Uthappa is showing some great skills with his straight drives. Brilliant to watch. Morris gave 5 runs in the over. Kolkata Knight Riders 47/0 (52 runs required from 14 overs).
  • 5 overs: Much better over by Zaheer. Just 6 runs. But it's of no use for the team.  Kolkata Knight Riders 42/0 (57 runs required from 15 overs).
  • 4 overs: Fine over but Daredevils score is so low that they will need to take wickets in heaps. Morris gave 7 runs. Kolkata Knight Riders 36/0 (63 runs required from 16 overs).
  • Chris Morris into attack now.
  • 3 overs: Once again Coulter-Nile bowled bad balls towards the end and paid the price. 9 runs off it and 8 of them came on the last two balls. Kolkata Knight Riders 29/0 (70 runs required from 17 overs).
  • 2 overs: Zaheer Khan looks rusty. Gifted boundaries to Gautam Gambhir in his first over. 16 runs off it. Kolkata Knight Riders 20/0 (79 runs required from 18 overs).
  • 1 over: Coulter-Nile bowled well except the last ball. Four runs off the over. KKR 4/0.
  • KKR openers Gautam Gambhir and Robin Uthappa have taken their places. Nathan Coulter-Nile has the bowl.
  • STAT: This the lowest IPL total at the Eden Gardens.
  • STAT: This is the 7th time that Delhi Daredevils have been bowled out for less than 100 runs, the highest among all teams.
Once again Delhi Daredevils have started their season badly. With Rahul Dravid on board, it was expected that Dardevils will perform better this season but after getting all out of 98 runs that transformation seems far away.
Delhi Daredevils innings
  • WICKET! Hastings has got Zaheer Khan and that has ended Delhi Daredevils' innings for just 98 runs. Zaheer Khan c Pandey b Hastings 4 (9b 1x4 0x6).
  • 17 overs: Chawla ended his spell with 1-run over. Superb he was today. Delhi Daredevils 93/9.
  • 16 overs: Wicket-maiden for Hogg. Delhi Daredevils 92/9.
  • WICKET! No. 3 for Hogg. Flighted, half-volley and Mishra edged to slip. Amit Mishra c Gambhir b Hogg 3 (9b 0x4 0x6).
  • 15 overs: Good over by Chawla. Just 3 runs. Delhi Daredevils 92/8. Coulter-Nile 5 (8b 1x4 0x6), Mishra 3 (5b 0x4 0x6), Chawla 3-0-20-2, Hogg 3-0-19-2.
  • 14 overs: Hogg has been impressive today. Just 5 runs from the over and a wicket. Delhi Daredevils 89/8.
  • WICKET! They are falling like nine-pins here. Hogg gets Delhi's last recognised batsman Sanju Samson with the wrong one. Sanju Samson c †Uthappa b Hogg 15 (13b 2x4 0x6).
  • 13 overs: Good over by Chawla. Just 4 runs. Delhi Daredevils 84/7.
  • WICKET! Chawla has got another one. Clean bowls Chris Morris this time. Chris Morris b Chawla 11 (9b 2x4 0x6).
  • 12 overs: Big over again. Hogg gave 12 runs in the over. A bit directionless here. Delhi Daredevils 80/6.
  • 11 overs: Big over for Delhi it was. 13 runs came in it but they lost Brathwaite. So it evened out everything. Delhi Daredevils 68/6.
  • WICKET! Carlos Brathwaite is out too. He hit a SIX on the first ball he played today but Piyush Chawla has him in the same over with his googly. Delhi in trouble. Carlos Brathwaite lbw b Chawla 6 (4b 0x4 1x6).
  • 10 overs: Great over by Hogg. Wicket and just 2 runs. Delhi Daredevils 55/5. Samson 13 (9b 2x4 0x6), Hogg 1-0-2-1, Yadav 3-0-21-0.
  • WICKET! Pawan Negi's struggle to score run has ended. Charged down the track but was beaten by Brad Hogg's turn. Pawan Negi st Uthappa b Hogg 11 (19b 0x4 1x6).
  • 9 overs: Good over by Yadav. Just 4 runs off it. Delhi need to accelerate their scoring now. Delhi Daredevils 53/4.
  • 8 overs: Negi hit a good SIX in the over by Colin Munro but it fetched on 7 runs. Delhi Daredevils 49/4.
  • 7 overs: Sanju Samson and Pawan Negi are somehow surviving in the middle. KKR bowlers are hitting the right line and length. Good over by Umesh Yadav. Just 7 runs. Delhi Daredevils 42/4.
  • 6 overs: Wicket-Maiden by Hastings. Delhi Daredevils 35/3.
  • WICKET! Hastings has joined the party. Karun Nair is out. He got out on juicy half-volley. Bad shot. Karun Nair c Pandey b Hastings 3 (8b 0x4 0x6).
  • 5 overs: Russell is continuing his World T20 form. He has put KKR ahead with his three wickets. 9 runs from his third over and wicket too. Delhi Daredevils 35/3.
  • WICKET! Mayank Agarwal goes back too. Tried to slog it over cover but a thick edge sent it high up in the air to deep thirdman where Brad Hogg took an easy catch. Third wicket for Russell. Mayank Agarwal c Hogg b Russell 9 (11b 1x4 0x6).
  • 4 overs: Good over to start with. Just 1 run. Delhi Daredevils 26/2. Karun Nair 0 (2b 0x4 0x6), Mayank Agarwal 8 (9b 1x4 0x6), John Hastings 1-0-1-0, Andre Russell 2-0-15-2.

  • Welcome to the Live coverage of the second match of the Indian Premier League 2016 between Delhi Daredevils and Kolkata Knight Riders.

PREVIEW Two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), who have roped in some utility cricketers this season, look set to begin their Indian Premier League (IPL) season in style when they host Delhi Daredevils (DD) in an encounter at the Eden Gardens here on Sunday. The Knights have somewhat stuck to the same squad which helped them lift the trophy in 2012 and 2014 but have managed to bring in the likes of all rounders Colin Munro, Jason Holder and John Hastings. Delhi too have made some changes to their team from last year, adding England batsman Sam Billings and West Indies all rounder Carlos Brathwaite. It was just last Sunday that Brathwaite smashed four consecutive sixes in the final over to gift West Indies the World T20 trophy at the Eden. A week later he will be in different colours trying the same for his franchise. The KKR bowlers will be wary of his strengths and therefore might rely on spin to do the trick on a wicket that turns. Tweakers Brad Hogg and Piyush Chawla might get drafted into the final XI, supported by Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan who bowls left arm off-spin. Mystery spinner Sunil Narine is not likely to be back for the clash, as he has returned to his country after his father's demise. On paper, KKR's pace arsenal is not the fiercest, but it is promising due to the presence of Umesh Yadav And Jaydev Unadkat. It will once again be led by South African fast bowler Morne Morkel, who clocks 145 kmph with ease in such conditions. Robin Uthappa and Manish Pandey have been two vital cogs in the KKR batting wheel. Both have scored plenty of runs in the IPL and skipper Gautam Gambhir will again look to them to deliver the goods. Gambhir and Uthappa feature in the fifth and sixth position among the IPL's leading run scorers and they would want to make it count this time as well. "We are a very well balanced unit. We have great options which makes selection tough. Few new faces, which will give us a few new ideas and options. It is going to be exciting, we are looking forward to it," KKR coach Jacques Kallis told the media here a few days ago. Delhi have a mix of experience and youth going into the ninth edition of the league. They have retained players like Jean-Paul Duminy and Quinton de Kock who are tailor made for the T20 format. They also have the youthful energy of Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson to look forward to. Pant has scored a lot of runs for the India U-19 team and might get his chance to open the innings in a few games. The bowling unit will be led by wily old warhorse Zaheer Khan, who will also be leading the side. He will have support from seasoned spinners Imran Tahir and Amit Mishra. The other fast bowlers in the side include Nathan Coulter-Nile, Mohammed Shami and Chris Morris -- who earlier used to play for the now suspended Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Though Delhi have been sensational at times in the tournament over the years, they have never made it to the final and would ideally want to get off to a winning start. But KKR will be playing at home, where a full house at the Eden can be expected and so the cheers and support might just give the men-in-purple an added advantage. The squads: Kolkata Knight Riders: Gautam Gambhir (captain), Kuldeep Yadav, Manish Pandey, Piyush Chawla, Robin Uthappa, Sheldon Jackson, Suryakumar Yadav, Umesh Yadav, Yusuf Pathan, Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, Brad Hogg, Chris Lynn, Morne Morkel, Shakib Al Hasan, Jaydev Unadkat, Ankit Singh Rajpoot, John Hastings, Jason Holder, Colin Munro, Rajgopal Sathish, Manan Ajay Sharma. Delhi Dardevils: Zaheer Khan (captain), Amit Mishra, Shreyas Iyer, Mohammad Shami, Saurabh Tiwary, Shahbaz Nadeem, Mayank Agarwal, Jayant Yadav, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Imran Tahir, Jean-Paul Duminy, Quinton de Kock, Pawan Negi, Chris Morris, Sanju Samson, Carlos Brathwaite, Karun Nair, Rishabh Pant, Sam Billings, Chama Milind, Pratyush Singh, Mahipal Lomror, Saeed Khaleel Ahmed, Akhil Herwadkar, Pawan Suyal
