New Delhi: Veteran Mahendra Singh Dhoni took over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captaincy once again as he led the defending champions against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 match. A brilliant 99-run knock from young opener Ruturaj Gaikwad helped Chennai beat Hyderabad by 13 runs to register their 4th win of the season and remain alive in the race to IPL 2022 playoffs.

Chennai's match against Hyderabad on Sunday was Dhoni's first match as captain in IPL 2022. The team's opening pair, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Daven Conway got off to a great start as their first wicket fell in the 18th over. Ruturaj and Conway scored 182 runs for the first wicket.

 

In reply, Hyderabad scored 189 runs and CSK won by 13 runs. Chennai's fans are extremely happy after Dhoni's return as captain. Under Dhoni's captaincy, CSK has been crowned as Indian Premier League (IPL) winners record four times.

 

Under the captaincy of Ravindra Jadeja, Chennai Super Kings have played 9 matches so far, out of which the team has won only three times. CSK's journey in the race for the playoffs is difficult ahead.
