Yashasvi Jaiswal Hilariously Trolled By Ashish Nehra After IND vs SL 1st T20I – WATCH

Ashish Nehra trolled Yashasvi Jaiswal with a Rohit-Kohli remark after India defeated Sri Lanka in the first T20I of the three-match series.

India (IND) defeated Sri Lanka (SL) comprehensively in the first IND vs SL T20I on July 27 (Saturday). With the win, the Men in Blue kicked the start of India’s new journey with Suryakumar Yadav as T20Is captain and Gautam Gambhir as new team India head coach off to a winning start. However, funny moment unfolded when former India bowler Ashish Nehra took a funny jab at Indian team’s opener Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Jaiswal was humorously trolled by Nehra during a post-match interview on the IND vs SL broadcaster channel. Jaiswal played a blazing innings of 40 off 21 deliveries in the first T20I against Sri Lanka on Saturday, giving India the perfect start and setting them up for a big score.

Nehra's Rohit-Kohli Remark On Jaiswal Leaves The Indian Opener In Splits

Notably, Yashasvi Jaiswal was part of India’s squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 but did not get an opportunity to play in any of the eight matches. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma opened for India in the tournament. Following India’s title victory, Rohit and Kohli retired from T20Is, paving the way for Jaiswal to open the innings.

This exact point was highlighted by Nehra, although with a touch of humour, during his interview with Jaiswal after the game. Nehra mentioned Rohit and Kohli were still playing T20Is, Jaiswal would be executing all his destructive shots only in the nets.

The comment had Jaiswal and the entire broadcasting panel in splits.

India Kick IND vs SL T20I Series Off With Emphatic Win

On Saturday, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav's explosive 26-ball 58 and a blistering 74-run opening stand in just six overs between Jaiswal and Gill propelled India to a total of 213/7. The Indian bowlers capitalised on the slowness of the Pallekele pitch in the latter stages, securing a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

India will face Sri Lanka in the second T20I on Sunday, July 28, in Pallekele.
