He was standing on the verge of getting a century but then he got run-out while playing the game against England.
Afghanistan skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi has lauded Rahmanullah and said that he is a match-winner. He also said that Gurbaz can change the game at any point in time. It is worth noting that Gurbaz smashed a brilliant half-century, setting the momentum for Afghanistan's second World Cup victory. The 21-year-old batter got a solid start and hit his half-century in just 33 balls and went on to add another 30 runs in the next 24 deliveries. He was standing on the verge of getting a century but then he got run-out while playing the game against England.
"See Rahmanullah is one of the players in our team who is, I believe a match-winner player. He can change the game anytime," Afghanistan skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi stated in the pre-match press conference in Chennai.
"You know whenever I am talking to him also, I am telling him that you are a match winner so he put a lot of impact on the games when he doing well so he did well in the last game also unfortunately he got run out and as like I expect that he will play much more than what he did in last three games in future games so whenever he do well, automatically our team will perform well with his performance," Shahidi added.
Earlier, Afghanistan registered one of the biggest upsets in World Cup history as they defeated England by 69 runs in the ongoing World Cup at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi on Sunday. Gurbaz ended up playing the knock of 80 runs in just 57 balls, helping Afghanistan post a massive total of 284 runs.
If Afghanistan wants to seal their place in the knockout stage, they need Rahmanullah Gurbaz's form. The kind of batting he is doing in the ongoing World Cup, it looks like the Afghans have a solid chance to qualify for the knockout stage.
