World Cup 2019: Mohammad Amir doubtful for Pakistan's CWC 2019 opener against Windies

Amir, who made his way back to the team after initially getting dropped from the 15-members squad, is not fully fit and the Pakistan team management has decided to not allow the speedster to participate in Friday game against Windies at Trent Bridge, Nottingham.

Luck is clearly not favouring Pakistan's fast bowler Mohammed Amir. The left-arm fast bowler might likely not play his national team’s CWC 2019 opening match against West Indies. Amir, who made his way back to the team after initially getting dropped from the 15-members squad, is not fully fit and the Pakistan team management has decided to not allow the speedster to participate in Friday game against Windies at Trent Bridge, Nottingham. Geo News reported that Amir has conveyed coach Mickey Arthur about his fitness problem and how he has been facing fitness issues ever since he arrived in England. Reportedly, Amir asked coach for some rest before gearing up for the remaining matches in the tournament. The 27-year-old didn't feature in the three ODIs against England due to a viral infection. However, he was included in the team in place of Faheem Ashraf despite his poor performance in the last fifteen ODIs where he picked just five wickets. After Pakistan bowlers dismal performance against England during the pre-tournament series, head coach Mickey Arthur, skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed and chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq have agreed to include Amir and Asif in place of Faheem Ashraf and Abid Ali in national team's 15-member squad.
