World Cup 2019: Kohli terms Rohit 'best ODI player'; 'He's on a different planet' says Rahul

With his 4th ton in the ongoing World Cup, Rohit equalled Kumar Sangakkara's record of scoring most tons in a World Cup edition

Rohit Sharma’s 104 off 92 balls in the 28-run win over Bangladesh guided India to the World Cup semi-finals here on Tuesday and in the process, he also equalled Kumar Sangakkara's record of scoring most tons in a World Cup edition. He is currently the highest run-getter in the ongoing mega-event with 544 runs from seven innings, including four centuries and one fifty. India captain Virat Kohli has described Rohit Sharma as the best One-Day player in international cricket right now after his deputy scored a record-equalling fourth century in a single edition of the World Cup. “I have been watching it for years now. He's (Rohit) the best One-day player around and we are so delighted to see him. When he plays like that, everybody is happy to see him strike this so well,” Kohli about his deputy at the post-match presentation ceremony. Rohit’s current opening partner K.L. Rahul says that looking to emulate the stylish batsman would be nothing short of being foolish. “You would be a fool to be tempted to bat like Rohit because he is in a different class. He is on a different planet altogether when he gets going. He made it look really easy (against Bangladesh) when really it wasn't anything of the kind. The pitch was two-paced, up and down, not coming on to the bat, but from the way he played, you would not have known. “We expect it from him and he is delivering every time. To bat with him is really easy because he takes the pressure off you. He keeps getting the boundaries and the scoreboard keeps ticking, I just have to keep there with him. It is great fun. “He has scored the most runs for the team, but everyone else has chipped in and we have talked about that as a team, to keep the contributions coming from the middle order and at the death,” Rahul explained.
