Australia’s 38-run defeat in Cardiff turned out to be their seventh loss in their past eight ODIs against England

Australian cricket team’s rough patch continued against England as they lost the 2nd ODI by 38 runs at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff on June 16.

Despite a phenomenal ton from Shaun Marsh, the Aussies failed to chase down the competitive total of 343 runs as they fell short by 38 runs and lost the game.

In the post-match press conference, Marsh admitted that the Australian unit need a lots of improvement to remain alive in the ongoing 5-match ODI series. He said, “We know we need to improve a fair bit to get that win. We are heading in the right direction, but we still need lots of improvement and hopefully we can see that in a few days’ time and try to get back into the series.”

During the second ODI, Marsh was promoted up the order and was send to bat at at number 3. Making the most the opportunity, he got his 4th ODI century and ended up scoring 131 runs off 116 balls, including 10 boundaries and 3 sixes. However, he lost his wicket in the 46th over while the Aussies needed 50 runs to win off 26 deliveries.

After Marsh, Ashton Agar turned out to be Australia’s second highest scorer in the game. He came in to bat at number 7 and smashed 46 runs off 42 balls.

Australia’s this defeat turned out to be their seventh loss in their past eight ODIs against England. Moreover, the 5-time world champions have now lost 13 of their last 15 ODIs

After two consecutive victories, England is leading the series by 2-0. The 3rd ODI will be played on June 19 at Trent Bridge, Nottingham.
