WATCH: Bumrah's back-to-back toe-crushing yorkers that confirmed Bangladesh's return ticket

After Shakib Al Hassan's dismissal, Sabbir Rahman and Mohammad Saifuddin raised slim hopes of a victory before Bumrah, with his toe-crushers, dashed Bangladesh’s hopes

Indian spearhead Jasprit Bumrah drove the Indian fans crazy with two of his yorkers he delivered to bundle Bangladesh on Tuesday at Edgbaston. He not only crushed the comeback of the opponents but also guided the men in blue into the semi-finals of the ongoing World Cup. Defending 314, in-form Shakib Al Hasan was the only real threat for the Indian bowlers as the Bangladesh batsmen came out pretty subdued in their chase. Though he returned to the dressing after scoring 66, Sabbir Rahman and Mohammad Saifuddin raised slim hopes of a victory before Bumrah, with his toe-crushers, confirmed Bangladesh’s return ticket. The incident happened in the 48th over when the Bangla Tigers needed 36 runs to win with 2 wickets in hand. After leaking 7 runs off the first four deliveries, Bumrah showcased his real colours and bowled an absolute jaffa, rattling the stumps of Rubel Hossain. The next ball saw the same results as the ball went under the bat of Mustafizur to peg back the base of the off-pole. Bangladesh had lost the game and India were through to the semi-finals. Here’s the video: India with 13 points from eight games will now hope to beat Sri Lanka in their final game and finish on top with 15 points, in case Australia (14 from 8 games) lose their last league match against South Africa. Bangladesh can go up to maximum nine points if they beat Pakistan but their last four hopes were dashed as Australia, India, New Zealand (11 from 8 games) and England (10 points from 8) are already above them.
