WATCH: 87-year-old Charulata steals the show with ardent cheering at Edgbaston
87-year-old Charulata Patel amazed everyone with her spirit and enthusiasm as she cheered for India in the stands during IND vs BAN match on Tuesday at Birmingham
One of cricket's most dramatic events unfolded exactly 36 years ago when Kapil-Dev led Indian team stunned the all mighty Windies side to lift their maiden Cricket World Cup title at the historic Lord's cricket ground in London.
87-year-old Charulata Patel, who claims to be present in the crowd when India won the World Cup in 1983, was seen cheering for India in the stands during IND vs BAN match on Tuesday at Birmingham.
The cheerful fan was full of joy and amazed everyone with her spirit and enthusiasm. Patel said she is confident that Virat-led men-in-blue will surely emerge as the winners of the World cup 2019 and proudly admitted that the players are like her kids. "I love this Indian team and all the players are like my kids," she said.
“India will win the world cup I am sure. I pray to Lord Ganesha that India wins. I bless the team always. When Kapil paaji won the World Cup in 1983, I was there as well.” said Charulata Patel.

Continuing his golden form, Rohit Sharma brought up his 4th century in the ongoing World Cup and gave the men in blue a dream start. However, Mustafizur’s five-wicket haul ran through the Indian middle order and restricted them to 314/9 at Edgbaston on Thursday. Mahendra Singh Dhoni (35 off 33 balls) once again failed to get going as India managed only 63 runs in the last 10 overs after Rohit's 26th ODI century and Rishabh Pant's (48 off 40 balls) flamboyance had taken India to 251 for 4.#WATCH 87 year old Charulata Patel who was seen cheering for India in the stands during #BANvIND match: India will win the world cup.
