India's Tour of Sri Lanka: Sri Lanka cricket have, on Thursday, July 11, announced that star all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga has officially resigned as the skipper of the nation in T20I's. This decision comes in merely two weeks before Sri Lanka's white-ball series with India, as the T20 World Cup 2024 champions will be travelling to the island nation to dawn a new era.
Gautam Gambhir is now India's new head coach and the T20I squad will also see a start of a new chapter, as Hardik Pandya will lead the side in the post 'Ro-Ko' Era (as Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have announced their retirement from the T20I format).
Sri Lanka will themselves see a new era, as the side are coming off a horrendous T20 World Cup campaign and are in search of a new skipper.

Official Statement From Sri Lanka Cricket In The Aftermath Of Wanindu Hasaranga's Resignation As Skipper From T20I's
"Sri Lanka Cricket wishes to inform the public that National Men’s T20I Captain Wanindu Hasaranga has decided to resign from the captaincy. Hasaranga said it is in the best interest of Sri Lanka Cricket that he decided to relinquish the captaincy duties and remain in the side as a player."
“Sri Lanka will always have my utmost best efforts as a player, and I will support and stand by my team and leadership as always,” said Wanindu Hasaranga in his resignation letter.
"Sri Lanka Cricket, while accepting his resignation, wishes to state that Hasaranga will remain an important player for us in our international cricketing plans."
