Virat Kohli's Celebration After Winning First-Ever 'Best Fielder' Medal In Indian Dressing Room Goes Viral- WATCH
Virat Kohli could not keep his calm after he received a best fielder medal for his effort in India's World Cup opener against Australia.
India got off to a winning start in the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023. While their first fixture was against the five-time champions Australia, the Men in Blue eventually registered a comfortable six-wicket win in their opening game of the tournament at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. After bowling Australia out for 199, India found themselves in a bit of a trouble when they lost 3 wickets for the score of 2 runs. However, they eventually managed to chase down the total in 41.2 overs, thanks majorly to a 165-run partnership between Virat Kohli and KL Rahul.
While Kohli scored 85, Rahul made 97 and even got the Player of the Match. Kohli, however, was awarded a specially-minted 'Best Fielder' medal. He took a brilliant catch of Mitchell Marsh during Australia's innings when Jasprit Bumrah produced an edge of his bat with the new ball. Following India's win, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared a sneak peak into the dressing room celebrations on social media.
"📽️ BTS from the #TeamIndia dressing room 🇮🇳 A kind of first 🥇 And the best fielder of the match award goes to....🥁 #CWC23 | #INDvAUS," BCCI captioned the video.

Indian opener Shubman Gill who tested positive for dengue and missed the clash against Australia, won't feature in the match against Afghanistan either with the BCCI sharing a medical update on October 9 (Monday). "He (Gill) will stay back in Chennai and will be under the supervision of the medical team," anofficial release from the BCCI read.
