Victoria Police 'Thanks' Jonny Bairstow In Hilarious Tweet. Here's Why

Victoria Police has joined the voices sharing their take on the Jonny Bairstow dismissal on Day 5 of the second Ashes Test at Lord's.

England batter Jonny Bairstow's dismissal has been one massive talking point in the cricketing world ever since Day 5 of the second Test match at the iconic Lord's Cricket Stadium in London. Bairstow's dismissal has divided the cricketing world. While on one hand are those who reckon that the dismissal was fair since it was well within the rules of the game, on the other hand are those who feel that it is against the "spirit of the game" as the batter was not trying to take a run.

Notably, Bairstow had casually walked out of his crease after leaving a bouncer from Cameron Green. However, the ball was still in play and wicketkeeper Alex Carey thre the ball at the stumps catching Bairstow out of his crease. The batter was adjudged out. And now amid the growing voice of people on both ends of the debate, Victoria Police has also taken to social media to 'thank' Bairstow in a hilarious post.

"We'd like to thank Jonny Bairstow for reminding everyone about the dangers of stepping over the crease before you're given the green light," Victoria Police tweeted.

Meanwhile, the Prime Ministers of both the countries have also gotten involved in the discussion. While UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak backed England captain Ben Stokes' stance that the dismissal was against the spirit of the game, Australian PM out a tweet seemingly in response to Sunak's remark and said: "I’m proud of our men’s and women’s cricket teams, who have both won their opening two #Ashes matches against England. Same old Aussies – always winning! Australia is right behind @ahealy77, @patcummins30and their teams and look forward to welcoming them home victorious 👏."
