Top 10 Highest Wicket-Takers In ODIs: Only One Indian Makes The Cut

India’s legendary spinner Anil Kumble is the only Indian in this elite list. Kumble played 271 ODIs for India and took 337 wickets at an average of around 31.

The record for taking the most wickets in ODI internationals is held by Sri Lanka’s legendary spinner Muttiah Muralitharan. He has maintained this record for the past 14 years.

Muralitharan took a total of 534 wickets in ODIs. Among the top 10 bowlers with the most wickets in ODI cricket, only one Indian features on the list, while three legendary Pakistan bowlers are included.

India’s legendary spinner Anil Kumble is the only Indian in this elite list. Kumble played 271 ODIs for India and took 337 wickets at an average of around 31.

9. Lasith Malinga

Sri Lankan slinger Lasith Malinga is ninth. Malinga featured in 226 ODIs, claiming 338 wickets at an average of around 29.

8. Brett Lee

Australia’s pace machine Brett Lee stands eighth on the list. He played 221 ODIs, taking 380 wickets at an average of around 24.

7. Glenn McGrath

Australia’s iconic fast bowler Glenn McGrath is in seventh place. McGrath appeared in 250 ODIs, taking 381 wickets at an average of 22.02.

6. Shaun Pollock

South Africa’s reliable fast bowler Shaun Pollock ranks sixth. He played 303 ODIs and secured 393 wickets at an average of 24.50.

5. Shahid Afridi

Pakistan’s legendary all-rounder Shahid Afridi also appears on this list. He took 395 wickets in 398 matches with an average of around 35.

4. Chaminda Vaas

The former Sri Lankan left-arm pacer is at the fourth spot. Vaas played 322 ODIs, collecting 400 wickets at an average of around 28.

3. Waqar Younis

Another legendary Pakistani fast bowler, Waqar Younis, features on this list. He picked up 416 wickets in 262 ODIs for Pakistan at an average of 23.84.

2. Wasim Akram

Pakistan’s great fast bowler Wasim Akram is second on the list. Akram claimed 502 wickets in 356 ODIs at an average of 23.52.

1. Muttiah Muralitharan

Sri Lanka’s legendary spin bowler Muttiah Muralitharan tops the list. He played 350 ODI matches for Sri Lanka, taking 534 wickets at an average of 23.08.
